Breath of Fire 6: Hakuryū no Shugosha-tachi was a free-to-play online, web-based role-playing video game with microtransactions developed and published by Capcom as the sixth main installment of its Breath of Fire series. The game was released in Japan on February 24, 2016 for Microsoft Windows computers and Android devices, with an iOS release following on July 12, 2016. On September 27, 2017, all services for Breath of Fire 6 officially closed, after only six of the game's eight planned episodes were released.

Long ago, in the age of mythology, the once glorious "Dragon Clan" split into two factions, the White Dragon and the Black Dragon, and a fierce battle began. The clash between the giant dragons caused natural catastrophes, devastating the world and wiping out countless lives. Eventually, the fighting came to an end thanks to the efforts of one brave young man, and the Dragon Clan quietly vanished... This "Battle between the White Dragon and the Black Dragon" is passed down as a legend. The "Insidia Empire" used its overwhelming military might to subjugate many nations and rapidly expand its influence toward world unification through force. One day, the protagonist's hometown, Dragneel Village, is attacked by the Imperial Army, and the village is engulfed in flames. The protagonist rescues injured survivors from the burning village. Heading toward the sound of screams, the protagonist and his team encounter a mythical creature that should no longer exist...a giant dragon.
